Anne Schnibbe

April 24, 2022

Anne Schnibbe, 94, of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on April 24, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Anthony and Catherine Tassio, on December 26, 1927. Anne was born and raised in Hastings-on-Hudson and proudly called it her home for her whole life. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1946 and married Bob Schnibbe in 1947. Together they raised 5 children, ran a family business, and enjoyed 50 years of sharing their life in a house, on a little dead end street, overlooking the Hudson River. Anne was a pillar in the community, serving in many different capacities, always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a parishioner of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the St. Matthew's Home and School Association, serving as a substitute kindergarten teacher and volunteer Physical Education teacher at the St. Matthew's School. She served as president of the Beatrice Gorman Auxiliary of the VFW and was an active member until the chapter closed, was a charter member of the Admiral Farragut Post 1195 American Legion Auxiliary unit, a member of the Protection Engine Company Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Village of Hastings Recreation Commission. In addition, Anne devoted much of her time to the senior citizens in the village. She served as the director of the Senior Canteen for almost 40 years, and was a member of the Hastings Senior Council, Hudson Shore Council of Senior Citizens, Westchester Council of Senior Citizens, and Senior Input Network of Greenburgh. Anne was named to the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in 1993 and she and Bob were Hastings-on-Hudson Citizens of the Year in 1994. Anne is survived by her loving family, son Thomas (Nancy), daughter Margie, daughter-in-law Jean, son Steven, grandchildren Jennifer (Brad), Brian (Melissa), Meghan (Mario), Juliane, Bobby, great grandchildren Emma, Courtney, Britney, loving companion James Pasanello, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert J., Sr., her son Robert J. Jr, daughter Annemarie, daughter-in-law Ginny, all brothers and sisters, and parents. Memorial Contributions may be made in Anne's name to the Hastings-on-Hudson Ambulance Corps. https://www.hastingsonhudsonfd.org/content/ambulance/
