Cerela D. Nunez, 96, a Yonkers resident, for over 40 years passed away in her sleep holding her son’s hand at her home in San Clemente, CA on February 12, 2022. Cerela was born on April 2, 1925 in Rocafuerte, Ecuador and lived there until 1968 when she moved to Yonkers with her two sons Eduardo and Jeffrey. Cerela worked as a seamstress and devoted herself to her family. She enjoyed crocheting, winning on the slot machines, playing bingo with her friends, and drinking coffee and whiskey. She also delighted in eating her pescado frito (whole fried fish), platanos, and cheese. Cerela treasured spending time with the people she loved. She will be sorely missed. Cerela is survived by her son Jeff and his wife Meshel; grandchildren Jeffrey Brad, Bryan, Mia Sofia; great grandchildren Jeffrey Luca, Jayden, and Jianni and by her former daughter-in-law Susan “Suyapa”. She was predeceased by her husband Jose Epifanio Nunez and by her son Eduardo Nunez. Mass of the Resurrection 10AM Tuesday The Bells of St. Mary’s The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Yonkers.
