Frank John LoPinto

Frank John LoPinto, 89, a long time Dobbs Ferry resident died March 5, 2012. He was raised in Brooklyn and prior to moving to Dobbs Ferry in 1960 he resided in Yonkers. Frank graduated from New Utrecht High School and studied photography in college He was a veteran of the US Army Infantry during WWII and became disabled during the war. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Frank worked at the Post Office for 33 years retiring in 1987. He married Anna M Barbarita on April 26, 1952 at St. Denis's Church in Yonkers, NY. Frank was a singer with the Charlie Spivak Orchestra, as one of the Star Dreamers and performed with many of the performing artists of the Big Band Era. Frank was a music arranger and taught music lessons at home. At one time, he had over 40 students. He also ran a photography business called the Village Photographer. Several of the photos in the Centennial Book "Life of a River Village" were taken by Frank. He was the organist at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Dobbs Ferry for over 20 years. He was a fixture at village events in his musical group "Italian Strings". Frank was the creative force behind the village talent show; he directed and wrote the music and skits. He was a member of the Dobbs Ferry Seniors. Frank is survived by his beloved wife Anna, loving children Carol McCarron Richard of Hartsdale, Philip LoPinto Kathleen of Danbury, CT, Donna LoPinto Waetjen Douglas of Tarrytown, NY, 3 grandchildren, sisters Mary Rose Perrotta of Danbury, CT and Jennie Pugliese of New Jersey. He was predeceased by his sister Josephine Monastero and brothers Ciro and Salvatore LoPinto. Contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 95 Palisade Street, Dobbs Ferry, NY Mass of the Resurrection 9:30AM Friday, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Dobbs Ferry, NY Visiting 7-9PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9PM Thursday,
