A long time and respected resident of the Ardsley community, Gloria Spector, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Feb. 5, 2022, after a vital and beautiful life of 96 years. Gloria and her husband Murray, deceased in 1994, moved to Ardsley from the Bronx, NY, in 1962. Gloria became actively involved in her community, serving as an energetic Girl Scouts Troop Leader, eventually becoming the volunteer chairwoman of the Westchester Council. Gloria was also a dedicated member of the Ardsley Swim and Tennis Club which she and Murray joined in 1962. She was elected to its Board of Directors, and was honored in 1983 for 15 consecutive years of service as its President and Director, a position she held for another 19 years until she retired in 2019 at age 93. She is fondly remembered for her dedication, work ethic, and leadership, which she displayed at The Club each day as the first to arrive and the last to leave. Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband Murray Spector, and is survived by her children, Valerie J. Madden (Thomas) of Carmel, NY, and April Spector of Tucson, AZ., her grandchildren, Cara Sullivan (Daniel) of Carmel, NY, Michael Edmonds of Seattle, Wash., and Ryan Ploss of Tucson, AZ, and her great grandchildren, Dylan Sullivan and Colin Sullivan of Carmel, NY. Visiting Friday 11:30-1pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, Dobbs Ferry with service to follow at 1pm at the funeral home. Contributions in lieu of flowers should be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta ORG.
