Obituary for Humberto B. Toledo Humberto Bonifacio Toledo (affectionately known as “Abuelo”) passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He was 95 years young. A “Superman” in the eyes of many. Humberto was born in Cienfuegos de Cuba on 7/5/1926, the eldest son of Serafin Toledo and Mercedes Escalante. Brother to Serafin, Julia, Mercedes, Marta y Ofelia. Humberto is survived by three sons Hugh, Alejandro and Albert and two daughters Margarita and Vivian. Loving abuelo to Monique Toledo, Susan LeBlanc, Louis Pratt, Annie Guirgui, Ileah Morato, Thomas Toledo, Alessandra Toledo and Carlos Toledo. Caring bisabuelo to Wesley and James Le Blanc, Roman and Joel Toledo, and Tristan and Willow Morato in the United States. In Cuba he is survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 10 greatgreat grandchildren. Very loving uncle and second father to many nieces, nephews, and young friends, all of whom adored him and were honored to have him call them “family”. His heart emanated so much love and light that it reached from his beloved shores of Cienfuegos de Cuba to the ends of the earth. Humberto had a loving spirit, and a passion for life. He helped everyone in any way he could. Although he had a stern exterior and a serious demeanor in his younger years, his great smile lit up a room. He always taught us to work hard, be honest and take care of each other. He instilled in his children an appreciation for our roots and an ambition to grow confidently into the future, together. He was a pillar of strength, and his wisdom will live in us forever. Humberto was a beacon who drew people to him with his light and humor which made everyone around him feel loved and at ease. He will be sorely missed by many. May your fond memories of him be a source of joy. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home (64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522). A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 10:00 am at the St. Anthony's R. C. Church (36 West Nyack Rd. Nanuet, NY 10954). Obituario de Humberto B. A Humberto le sobreviven tres hijos Hugh, Alejandro y Albert y dos hijas, Margarita y Vivian. Amado abuelo de Monique Toledo, Susan LeBlanc, Louis Pratt, Annie Guirgui, Ileah Morato, Thomas Toledo, Alessandra Toledo y Carlos Toledo. Querido bisabuelo de Wesley y James Le Blanc, Roman y Joel Toledo, y Tristan y Willow Morato en Estados Unidos. En Cuba le sobreviven 8 nietos, 18 bisnietos y 10 tataranietos. Tío muy querido y segundo padre de muchas sobrinas, sobrinos y jóvenes amigos, todos los cuales lo adoraban y se sentían honrados de que él los llamara "familia". Su corazón emanaba tanto amor y luz que llegaba desde sus queridas costas de Cienfuegos de Cuba hasta los confines de la tierra. Humberto tenía un espíritu amoroso y era apasionado por la vida. Ayudó a todos en todo lo que pudo. Aunque tenía un exterior fuerte y un comportamiento serio en su juventud, su gran sonrisa iluminaba una habitación. Siempre nos enseñó a trabajar duro, ser honestos y cuidarnos unos a otros. Le inculcó en sus hijos el aprecio por nuestras raíces y la ambición de crecer con confianza hacia el futuro, juntos. Él fue un pilar de fortaleza, y su sabiduría vivirá en nosotros para siempre. Humberto fue un faro que atrajo a la gente hacia él con su luz y humor hizo que todos a su alrededor se sintieran amados y cómodos. Muchos lo extrañarán.
