Mildred Margherita Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mildred “Millie” Margherita, 95, passed away on June 3, 2022. Born on February 19, 1927, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Santanastasio. Beloved wife of the late Ben Margherita. Beloved sister of Josephine (John) Pelletier and the late Blaise Santi. Cherished friend of the late Ann Zangrilli. Millie was born and raised in the Bronx where she lived for many years. She and her family were the long-time proprietors of Blaise’s Restaurant on Bronxdale Avenue. Millie and her husband raised their family in Airmont, NY where she resided until her passing. Millie was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting her famous Sunday Dinners for her family and friends. She was a devout Catholic and communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Suffern. Millie is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Delia) Margherita of Hastings and Ben (Paul Hart) Margherita of Brooklyn. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom she adored. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home on Monday, June 6 from 3 until 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at Saint Phillip Neri, Bronx. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie’s name may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation or to the Kanas Center for Hospice Care
