Sidney Eudene

Sidney Eudene, 98, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022. Born and raised in Manhattan and the Bronx, he was the son of Louis Eudene and Esther (nee Zaitchik). Sidney served as an officer in the Navy in WWII, holding the rank of Lieutenant JG upon discharge, followed by ten years in the Reserves. He graduated with a degree in Physics from St. Lawrence University, lettering in both baseball and basketball, followed by his professional degree in Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Sidney met Alice Halpern in 1951 and they married on May 25, 1952. They lived in Sunnyside Queens and then moved to Dobbs Ferry, where they raised their two children, Shelley Jo and Daniel Martin. Sidney had a distinguished career as an architect, including decades with IBM from which he retired in 1988. Notable work includes the Hall of African Peoples in the American Museum of Natural History in New York and many security stations at IBM sites. He also selected much of the artwork for IBM facilities world-wide. After retirement, Sidney frequently played golf and tennis. He was an avid bridge player and did Sudoku right up to his last days. Sidney spent much of his time with friends at the Dobbs Ferry Senior Center where he also served on the Senior Advocacy and Waterfront Committees. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Shelley and her husband Jonathan Lanman, and his loving wife Alice. He is survived by his son, Daniel (Karen), seven grandchildren Kyle (Krista), Lauren (Kevin), Adam (Jessica), Benjamin (Sunny), Jake (Jessica), Nathaniel (Heather), and Ashley (Anthony) and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Sophia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be directed to the American Cancer Society or Cancer Care Services are private.
